Job Description
Per diem position. Under the direction of the director of nuclear cardiology, follows departmental procedures and policies in conducting stress tests (exercise or pharmacological) in appropriate patients in the Cardiology Division, explains the testing procedure to the patient, prior to initiation of stress test, completes patient assessment, reviews baseline electrocardiogram (EKG), and obtains a baseline blood pressure. During the stress test, responsible for monitoring the patient’s clinical condition, monitoring the patient’s cardiac rhythm and ST segment changes, obtaining periodic blood pressures, ensuring appropriate drug infusion and/or treadmill operation, and determining when to terminate the test. Responsible for administering appropriate antidotes and/or treatments in compliance with approved protocol. Following the test, responsible for monitoring the patient’s clinical condition, blood pressure, and EKG, and determining when recovery monitoring can terminate. Responsible for ensuring that testing documentation is complete, including preliminary reading of EKG response. Coordinates the stress testing schedule in collaboration with the nuclear cardiology supervisor. Coordinates and maintains the quality assurance data base. Performs related duties as required.
Required Education
BSN (American Heart Association) required. Graduate of an NLN accredited school of nursing. Bachelor’s degree in nursing

Licensure: Current RI licensure, BCLS and ACLS certification required, American College of Sports Medicine certification as exercise specialist preferred.

Experience: Two years CCU experience preferred. > One year experience in clinical exercise testing including nuclear imaging preferred.
