At Care New England, we are continuously striving to bring better quality, service, and access to support our community, which is why over the coming year we will be leveraging our collective clinical strength to greatly expand our ability to address the struggle our patients and families are facing with diabetes.
With the condition continuing to grow and affect more than 106,000 individuals across all age levels here in Rhode Island, it’s an issue that warrants both attention and action to help us advance the pace of progress in the fight against diabetes. Nationally, every 21 seconds someone is diagnosed with diabetes, which puts them at greater risk for series complications including kidney failure, heart disease, stroke, blindness, and lower-limb amputations.
If you’ve witnessed the effect it has, it’s easy to understand the struggle those who are affected by it go through daily.
We are committed to expanding our ability to address this struggle head-on, with enhanced programs and services, increased access to care, and working to create a statewide dialogue, advocacy effort, and action plan to fight this disease.

To jump start our efforts, I am proud to say we have partnered with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) to rally together through participation and sponsorship of the 2019 Tour de Cure, taking place this September 29 at the University of Rhode Island. I’m honored our team is contributing to the work the ADA has done to raise critical funding to fight diabetes and am deeply humbled by the efforts put forth by our organization to both participate and fundraise to support ADA’s mission to prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of all affected by the disease.
Regardless of whether you are living with the disease, or know a loved one who is, Care New England is committed to being your partner in health. If you’d like to learn more about diabetes, or the ADA’s Tour de Cure, I welcome you to visit the ADA informational site here. I know we can do great things when we come together and hope from all of us at Care New England that we continue to make a difference both inside and outside the walls of our organization.
