The COVID-19 crisis has shone a light on the importance of health care: both the necessity of maintaining our own good health and how much we rely on the invaluable resource of our healthcare facilities. No resource has stood out so much as those on the frontline and those who support them behind the scenes – the nurses, physicians, technicians, and all those who work tirelessly to provide compassionate care for those who are ill and comfort to their loved ones.
While the pandemic has created an astounding need, the community has responded with contributions that total more than $1 million! Thank you!
There are countless examples of generosity. Donated funds supported telemedicine access for the mental health and substance use disorders that are exacerbated by the stress and isolation of the pandemic. Care New England staff whose families have been struggling financially have received community support through the Employee Relief Fund. A donated iPad allowed a mom to see her newborn during their isolation due to infection concerns. Thousands of meals and tens of thousands of masks were donated to our staff, and the financial donations, large and small, came from the heart and were put to immediate use.
